In the article 'Styling a Drupal Site : Ready to Wear' I introduced the notion of styling, or theming, a Drupal site with a ready made theme. Another approach to styling is to develop your own design by using a 'vanilla' theme or a 'framework' theme as it's base. This gives you a plain, 'no frills' site that can be developed according to your design requirements.
A new website called Brightwide has been launched as a platform for independent social and political films. The idea behind the site is to showcase films that champion global socio-political causes and encourage comment, or even prompt viewers to join a campaign. Founded by Colin Firth, Brightwide is a collaboration of experts from the worlds of film, campaigning, journalism and digital media.

As with many things in Drupal there are different approaches to achieve the same, or similar, goal. Styling, or theming, is the same in this respect although the approach taken is often governed, but not always, by experience. In this article I will look at the easiest and most basic way of styling a Drupal site, showing that even if you have very little experience you can have a great looking site in no time at all.
