They say 'content is king' and that is why it sits at the top of the list when creating a website. Content is what the site is all about; it informs what the site does and how the design should be approached.
I work with clients to create a site-map which helps everyone to think through the way the content is organised - the information architecture of the site.
Once everyone is clear about the site structure, wireframes are created. Wireframes are pages that are drawn up in a simple way without any design to explore how the content can be arranged on the pages. This means they can be created and edited quickly and also save time when applying your brand to the pages.
You may want news articles that are fed as snippets into a panel on the homepage; a gallery of images that you can update easily; a shopping cart or just a blog.
Exploring what the website will do may determine how it is built. I can build websites using a Content Management System (CMS), with Adobe Flash or simply hand-coded in HTML.
Design is the look and feel of the site - the branding, those curved corners and unified colour palette.
I will work with you to establish an initial design direction for the site, before taking a single path forward to design some key pages. Once complete the designs are made ready for the website to be built.
